Real Madrid's Greatest Goalscorer, Raul, Says Goodbye To Club
Real Madrid officials confirmed this past Monday in a press conference that superstar, Raul, is a Galactico no longer after serving the club loyally for 16 years.
Originally, Raul was destined to play for Real crosstown rival, Atletico Madrid. However, fate being a cruel mistress, Atletico dissolved the youth program and the young Raul had no choice but to convert to the Real side; a move he does not regret.
But now, his journey with royalty has come to an end. The 33 year old is on the free agent list and has hinted in making a move to England's Premiere League or the Bundesliga of German.
Earlier this year rumors circulated the Spaniard was going to defect to the United States and join the New York club. But, obviously, those rumors were put to rest when the Red Bulls showed interest in Thierry Henry.
Raul commented that Schalke, of the Bunesliga, along with a number of other clubs have shown serious interest in the superstar. However, the striker remains in limbo.
According to ESPN:"This is my last chance to experience a foreign league," he said. "I am 33 and wanted to experience new training techniques and a new language and culture for my family."
Raul leaves the Bernabéu as its greatest player ever scoring 323 goals in 740 games and winning numerous championship: six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, four Spanish Super Cups and one UEFA Super Cup.
Raul is set to make his decision in the next few days regarding his soccer future. Hopefully his ego is not as big as American free agents and requests a one hour special called, "La Decisión."
